Wedding Morning at Water’s Edge Resort & Spa

Before meeting Geralda, I started the morning early, scouting out locations at the Water’s Edge Resort & Spa in Westbrook, Connecticut. I always do this as it helps me visualize portraits, find the best light, and plan ahead so nothing feels rushed later.

Inside the reception space, I immediately knew we’d have some amazing photo opportunities at the large window in the space. The light pouring in was unreal and helped make the bridal portraits some of my favorites from the day. When I met her upstairs, she was surrounded by her bridesmaids and her mom, getting ready and soaking everything in. I let her know about the spot I had found, and she was all in. The portraits speak for themselves!

Geralda stepped into her wedding dress from Kleinfeld Bridal and her mom helped button her into the dress. They shared a first look together that was incredibly meaningful, and I’m so glad we documented it.

We created a series of portraits using the natural light, her veil, and the clean lines of the space. A mix of black and white images, silhouettes, and movement. Nothing forced, just strong direction, real reactions, and images that felt true to her. This part of the day is a big reason couples work with me. I’m vocal, I give direction, and I make sure you feel confident the entire time.

A Waterfront Wedding Ceremony in Westbrook, Connecticut

The ceremony took place right along the shoreline at Water’s Edge Resort & Spa in gorgeous Westbrook, Connecticut. The weather was perfect and the view couldn’t have been better.

The ceremony itself felt relaxed and genuinely joyful. With the water behind them and their friends and family gathered close, Geralda and John were fully present in the moment.

One of the strengths of Water’s Edge Resort & Spa is that everything happens on-site. Getting ready, the ceremony, portraits, and the reception all take place in one location, which keeps the timeline moving and cuts down on unnecessary travel or downtime.

The ceremony is set directly along the water, giving couples a clear waterfront backdrop against the ocean. Because the resort is active during the day, guests elsewhere on the property can see the ceremony from a distance. The venue staff removes umbrellas and clears the area, but it’s helpful for couples to know that the ceremony space is visible and open rather than secluded.

Inside, the reception space features large windows that bring in strong natural light. That made it a great spot for bridal portraits earlier in the day.
